The cuisine at "Barrowboy & Banker" places a strong emphasis on British classics with a modern twist, where seasonal ingredients play a central role. A definite highlight is the "Steak & Ale Pie," a hearty dish featuring tender meat and a rich beer sauce, served in a crispy pastry shell – a true delight for lovers of traditional pub fare. Equally popular is the "Sunday Roast," particularly with juicy roast beef, crispy roast potatoes, and a flavorful gravy, which is considered one of the best in the area. The ambiance is a successful blend of historic charm and modern coziness. The high ceilings and large windows allow plenty of light in, while the dark wood and warm colors create an inviting warmth. The open design is particularly striking, allowing guests to observe the bustling activity of the kitchen, as well as the upper gallery that offers a great view over the pub. It is a place suitable for both relaxed meals and social evenings, often accompanied by live broadcasts of important sporting events displayed on multiple screens. The beer cellar, located in the former bank vaults beneath the building, ensures that the casks are optimally stored and chilled, enhancing the quality of the drinks.

I recently visited the Barrowboy and Banker, and overall, it was a solid experience. The dining area upstairs was cosy and inviting, providing a relaxed atmosphere for a nice meal. The service from Kumara and Sopheena was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and made sure we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. The manager, Thaylah, also stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch and ensured everything was up to our expectations. While the food was decent, there were a couple of things that could be improved. The plate for the fish and chips was too small, leaving little room for the dish, and the burger tasted more like boiled meat rather than a grilled one. On the plus side, the food was served hot, which is always a plus. All in all, it was a good experience, and the location is ideal, so I would definitely consider coming back for another visit.

Amazing place to have a glass of wine , without any pressure, laid back place, cool. Levi was a superb staff member. Paid attention to details and made sure the wine was organic. Organic wine is better for the body.

I asked for a decaff coffee and the bar tender told me they don’t do decaf… except camomile tea. I then saw a list of teas on the board…. A lot of which don’t have caffeine and so I asked for peppermint. Bar tender clearly hasn’t got a clue. Not friendly or helpful and the pub itself should do decaff coffee. Decided not to eat here.

Lovely building but just another chain with the same low quality food and poor drinks. Dirty, messy and lots of staff hanging around doing nothing

I've walked by this pub hundreds of times over the years and actually went there for lunch last week for the first time. Lovely fullers pub and served up one of the best pints of London Pride. Food was really nice and served up quickly.
